Lauri Asbury

As a graduate from the University of Michigan with a BA in Political Science, I’ve always been interested in politics and the impacts upon society. Currently I’m honored to serve as Vice President of the Neenah Joint School District Board of Education, as Legislative Committee Chair, and Policy Committee member; a Samaritan Counseling Center of the Fox Valley Board of Directors member; and a Winnebago Area Literacy Council Board member. These connections give me great vision into the intersection between education, language literacy, and mental health as they impact our community and society at large. As a firm believer in the Wisconsin Idea, I see firsthand how education improves lives both inside and outside of the classroom. I’m looking forward to learning how to leverage data analytics to positively impact equity, take a deep dive into standardized testing, address childhood and generational poverty through education, and to gain an understanding of how to create strong policy that encourages investment in education at all levels.
