MATHEMATICS EDUCATOR WITH A RANGE OF EXPERIENCE
Michael Geinopolos received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from DePaul University in June, 2023. During his tenure at DePaul University, Michael tutored in the Mathematics Department. Michael mainly tutored students in Calculus, Probability and Statistics, and Linear Algebra. After graduation, Michael worked as an ACT/SAT tutor at Huntington Learning Center. Having been used to tutoring college students; here, Michael really focused on making mathematics more approachable for a younger audience. In March, 2024; Michael was offered a position as a High School Mathematics Teacher at the Lincoln Academy in Beloit, Wisconsin. Michael is currently teaching Precalculus, Probability and Statistics, Algebra II with Trigonometry, and Geometry.
SEEING THE BIGGER PICTURE
Being formally educated in Mathematics, Michael has been conditioned to be precise and to maintain logical continuity in mathematical pedagogy. It is easy for students to lose sight of the bigger picture mathematics is painting for them. Many of Michael’s students have questioned the relevance of what they are learning. Most math that is taught at the high school level can be applied to everyday life; however, Michael emphasizes the importance of structured thinking. Process oriented subjects like mathematics help students develop the framework to think critically in a wide range of subjects outside of mathematics.
