“So far, this program has given me tools to approach data analysis and research more thoughtfully, considering ethical implications in every decision. I’ve enjoyed the practical skills-based learning and connecting with classmates from different backgrounds to better make sense of course content.”
LEVERAGING DATA AND TECHNOLOGY FOR SOCIAL GOOD
Kate is currently a Project Coordinator at NTEN, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the skillful and equitable use of technology for social good. At NTEN, Kate plays a key role in organizing the annual Nonprofit Technology Conference, which brings together over 1800 in-person and 300 virtual attendees for three days of learning and networking. She also contributes to impact evaluation projects by aggregating data and helping to create dashboards to illustrate NTEN’s progress toward achieving its theory of change. Kate holds a BS in Public Health and has experience in health services research, having worked on a large multi-clinic tobacco cessation study.
BALANCING EMPATHY AND DATA-DRIVEN DECISION-MAKING
Kate brings her adaptability and empathy to everything she does. She is passionate about public health and enjoys tackling complex issues from a systems-level perspective. Her experience as a health services researcher, where she interacted with thousands of patients, and her time teaching English in Madrid have given her invaluable insight into cultural nuances. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to cultural competency in her work. This, combined with her data analysis and research skills, ensures a balanced approach that prioritizes both data-driven decisions and a people-first mindset.
