Julie Johnson

Dr. Johnson is a Program Manager of Instructor Engagement and Innovation at UW-Madison’s Center for Teaching, Learning & Mentoring in the Division of Teaching and Learning. In her role, Julie manages teaching professional development programming and instructional consulting, which involves facilitating course-level learning analytics projects. Learning analytics has been contextually defined for campus as “the undertaking of activities that generate actionable data from the learning intended to improve student outcomes by informing structure, content, delivery or support of the learning environment” (defined in 2018 by the Learning Analytics Roadmap Committee, led by the Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning). She received her PhD in 2020 in Human Development from UW-Madison’s Department of Educational Psychology. Prior to earning her PhD, Julie earned her M.A. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from Ohio State University and advised college student leadership programming. She earned her BS in Sociology with a minor in Business from Iowa State University.
