Tingyan Liu was born and grew up in a beautiful coastal city in China. Tingyan recently received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and focused on researching the influence of maternal emotion regulation on their children’s negative affectivity. She is now working as a Research Specialist in the Children Emotion Lab led by Dr. Seth Pollak at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Tingyan is interested in researching how parental traits and early childhood experience exert positive and negative impacts on children’s emotional development and mental health with the goal of providing the best support for caregivers and creating environments that foster healthy child development. She is excited to take this opportunity to become trained as a well-rounded researcher and further pursue a Ph.D. program in psychology in the future.
