“With billions of people in the world, our needs are universal, yet the ways we meet them are infinite. As an educational leader, I am committed to nurturing individual strengths, inspiring passions, creativity, and growth, so all can fulfill their purpose . The University of Wisconsin’s Educational Psychology Learning Analytics program is the next step in my education, and in disrupting the status quo to improve teaching and learning for all.”

LEADING CHANGE WITH PURPOSE AND PASSION

Melissa McConnell is looking forward to serving as the new Instruction/SEL Coach at Sherman Elementary in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Previously, she worked as the K–12 Math Intervention Specialist for the Mosinee School District, where she led student interventions, districtwide professional development, and guided data-informed instructional decisions. She also taught second grade and served as a math interventionist in the Colby School District.  Melissa earned a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and holds a Principal and Director of Instruction license.  With expertise in mathematics education, Equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support (EMLSS), and Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s), she is always excited about new learning opportunities that promote academic excellence, educator development and support student growth.

FROM INSIGHT TO ACTION, WITH PURPOSE

Melissa is fueled by a deep commitment to learning and continuous improvement.  She channels her passion for learning into every facet of her role. Whether delivering math interventions, leading professional development, or coaching teams through data-informed decision-making, she brings curiosity, empathy, and strategic questioning. Her experiences as a teacher, leader, and learner have developed her skills in analyzing data, facilitating change, and fostering growth. She is especially passionate about helping educators use data meaningfully to improve student outcomes. With each opportunity—whether in classrooms or professional learning spaces, she works to inspire others to lead with purpose and turn insight into action.
