“I believe our education system is at a watershed moment where students and technology will force us to re-evaluate the role of school. I joined the Learning Analytics program at UW-Madison because learning analytics is a pivotal tool to ensure school communities are adapting to meet this challenge. My hope is this program will not only build my technical skills to grapple with data, but also expand my ability to ask meaningful questions that build equity.”
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF ACADEMICS
Christina Naramore is the Assistant Principal of Academics at Valor Voyager Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. With 11 years of experience in public education and education non-profits, she has also served as a founding school leader. Christina began her teaching career as a Teach for America Corps member in Eastern North Carolina, where she taught 8th grade math and Algebra. Following her time with Teach for America, she participated in the organization’s Rural School Leadership Academy and the Reimagining Education Fellowship, where she developed a passion for innovative, equity-centered community-school models. Before her teaching career, Christina worked in the finance industry for four years and was recognized as one of Loudoun County’s 30 Under 30. THE INTERSECTION OF EMOTIONAL SAFETY AND ACADEMICS
As a former math teacher, Christina has seen firsthand the implicit messages a classroom can have on a student’s sense of belonging. She is passionate about the role instruction plays in creating learning environments where students and adults build their preferred narratives. While her official role is Assistant Principal, she most values her role as an instructional coach and the impact it has on working towards equitable outcomes for all students. Christina is committed to building relationships with her school community where everyone can try, fail, learn, adapt, heal and grow together.
