Paola Sanchez
Credentials: BA in Early Elementary/ESL Education
Position title: Kindergarten Teacher
Address:
Milwaukee, WI

“I’m a current teacher in the Milwaukee Area, my home place I knew I wanted to come back to teach at. It brings me such joy to know that the youth in Milwaukee will hopefully continue to see themselves represented in fields such as education. As a POC/ Latina teacher I believe our youth deserves better, meaning helping the continued eradication of inequities within the classroom. I hope with this program I can continue to learn new tools and ways I can continue to impact the education system and mostly for POC youth.”
PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
Currently a building sub at Jefferson elementary, Paola has gotten classroom experience in various settings and grade levels. Being able to sub has granted her various tools and techniques she wishes to bring into her own classroom in the fall. She has also been in Special Ed settings, which has enriched her understanding of universal accommodations, and she continues to practice those in other settings as well. She recently got her first classroom which will be Kindergarten at Jefferson Elementary. Her BA in Early Elementary/ ESL Education has prepared her to encounter yet cultivate a welcoming environment in which many students can see themselves succeed.
PASSIONS AND SKILLS
Paola’s passion, especially within the education field, is not only fairness but equity. She shares that in order to serve the changing demographic population of our students, we need to continue to learn how we can do so. Paola is passionate about bringing in bilingual and culturally responsive ways within the classroom to really cater to all. She believes she can make a difference in the classroom by doing so because that is something she remembers from her early childhood education. She believes the teachers that put forth empathy and skills for their students can have a successful classroom as a result.
