Essence Truth

“Education has always been important to me. Since I was a young child, I recognized the importance of learning and how it can help you grow. As I got older, the love I had for it did not go away. It helped me realize that I wanted to become a teacher for young students. I wanted to help others become the best they could be through the lens of education.”

Consistent and Helpful

Essence Truth recently graduated from Marquette University with a Primary Education and Political Science degree. During her time there, she worked in many different school environments with students from diverse backgrounds. Essence currently lives in Washington, D.C., and works at a local public elementary school. She recently received the Community Achievement Award through her job for her consistency and helpfulness throughout the school year.

Service to Community

Essence has always been a learner and has looked for ways to add value to her education. Getting a master’s degree helped with this as well. She is pursuing a degree in Learning Analytics because it allows her to help students not only in the classroom but outside of it as well. Helping her community is something she has always wanted to do, and with the use of education, she can pursue her dreams and help create actual change.
