“I joined the Learning Analytics program because I have a passion for data and for using it effectively to help students continue to improve. By joining this program, I hope to learn how to use data efficiently and apply the knowledge I gain to make a more meaningful impact on my students.”

BILINGUAL LITERACY SPECIALIST

Francisco started his career as a 1st grade teacher with Teach for America and noticed the importance of early literacy. He is currently a bilingual literacy coach who works with teachers during small group intervention. His mission is to equip teachers with best practices and give students confidence to continue to improve and read on grade level. Francisco approaches this by supporting and developing teachers’ ability to make informed instructional decisions by using student data and work as well as identifying the needs and goals of individual students. Francisco holds Bachelor degree in Spanish and Psychology from Sewanee: The University of the South as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay GSE.

TRANSFORMING LIVES WITH THE POWER OF LITERACY

Francisco’s passion for helping students to read on grade level stems from his own personal experience when he had difficulty reading during his primary years. Francisco knows the importance of reading and how confident students become when they learn to read fluently. By using data, Francisco is able to suggest what skills students still need to continue working on and start making decisions to help the students close the literacy gap.
