“I joined the Learning Analytics program because it brings together two areas I’m passionate about: education and data. As a math teacher, I’m excited to develop technical skills, learn from others in the field, and discover new ways to make an impact—whether through teaching, educational technology, research, or policy.”
MATHEMATICS TEACHER & DATA SPECIALIST
Currently, Lorenzo serves as a mathematics teacher at Lake Forest Academy and as a Data Specialist at Avela, an ed-tech enrollment startup. A graduate of Northwestern University, he earned degrees in Secondary Mathematics Education and Statistics, along with a minor in Computer Science and a certificate in Leadership. He also holds teaching endorsements in Music, Computer Science, English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education (Spanish), and Mathematics. Drawn to opportunities that connect people, data, and learning, he enjoys exploring how thoughtful analysis and strong educational practice can help students, educators, and institutions better support education as a whole.
LEADING LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Education has long been one of Lorenzo’s primary passions, both professionally and through community involvement. Beyond his work as a mathematics teacher and data specialist, he has served as a Camp Director with Camp Galileo, a K–8 STEAM-focused summer program, where he helped create engaging learning experiences for students while supporting staff and program operations. He has also been involved in tutoring, mentoring, and educational outreach initiatives, including helping lead Northwestern Splash, which connects university students with local K–12 learners. Across these experiences, he enjoys building supportive learning communities and creating opportunities for students to grow in confidence, curiosity, and achievement.
