Emma Nickerson graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire (UWEC) in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and French Education, and a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. While at UWEC, Emma participated in five years of undergraduate research which focused on teaching students who have experienced trauma, supporting students who are in the LGBTQIA+ community, and the benefits of co-teaching strategies in the classroom. Along with her UWEC research colleagues, Emma presented research findings at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) conference in 2018. She is currently a middle school language arts teacher in northwestern Wisconsin. One of Emma’s passions is to create equitable classroom learning environments that support all students to help them succeed. As part of LAMP, Emma is excited by the opportunity to learn new techniques to accomplish this goal, using evidence-based research that she can implement in her classroom and share with her colleagues.
