Sydney Schaeffer is excited to return to UW-Madison after recently graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education through the Elementary and Special Education Dual Certification Program in 2021. While at UW-Madison, Sydney focused much of her time working in various classrooms within the Madison Metropolitan School District and taking on leadership roles in an organization called Badgers for Special Olympics. She is currently a second grade teacher for the Sauk Prairie School District in south central Wisconsin. In this role, her largest focus is maintaining equitable practices within her classroom. She also participates in her school’s Equity Committee which works towards bringing equitable lessons, techniques, and resources to educators within the district. Sydney is particularly interested in the analysis of educational gaps in relation to intersectionality points such as race, gender, or disability. She is excited to have the opportunity to learn a variety of research skills and data driven practices from the Learning Analytics program that can be implemented in her classroom and make changes in the educational system.
