
Dr. Widmer is an Instructional Design & Engagement Specialist with the L&S Instructional Design Collaborative at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In this role, she develops and facilitates initiatives that promote student-centered and evidence-based teaching practices across the College of Letters & Science. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from UW-Madison’s School of Education, with a focus on using a mixed methods approach to investigating student development, teaching and learning, and innovation in higher education. Maria also holds a M.Ed. in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State University, where she collaboratively designed and developed the data visualization interface for a game-based literacy progress monitoring app.
